Upcoming ExhibitsHere's information on upcoming temporary exhibits at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka.
Kansas' fascination with car culture has a long history. A number of early cars were manufactured in the state, Walter Chrysler was born here, and the National Hot Rod Association held its first national championship in the state. President Dwight Eisenhower, a Kansas native, championed the interstate highway system, and we claim the first completed stretch of interstate in the nation. This exhibit will explore the impact of the automobile on Kansas, especially as it has affected food and entertainment. Kansans have wholeheartedly embraced car culture; after all, we’re spread out over 52 million acres, and it’s difficult to live here without a car!
