War Letters, Viet Nam Conflict
The only war correspondence in our collections from the Viet Nam Conflict was written by Dr. Robert E. Feighny. Feighny served his tour of duty in the Army Medical Corps, 8th Field Hospital in Nha Trang, from April 1964 to April of 1965. As a doctor working far from the field of battle, he admitted he knew little of the military situation, and only saw the medical by-product of combat. He got his news from the same sources as civilians in the U.S. Still, his writing offers a good examination of the civilian and medical situation in Viet Nam. The Kansas Historical Society is especially intererested in collecting materials from this time period. If you have items you'd like to donate, or items you would allow to be copied, please see our section on how you can donate materials. Kansas War Letters Online
